The Bio of Thee Shams
Open the bio as a Word Document
From the north valleys of Cincinnati comes Thee Shams. Together since ‘99, the
family Sham has uniquely captured the edgy rawness of early garage, the
drug-induced mysticism of yesteryear’s psychedelic rock, and the soulful blues
reminiscent of Muddy Waters. With the pioneers of rock as a stepping-stone they
have pushed the limits of rock and roll without ever losing the essential
elements created by maximum R&B’s greatest forefathers.
Thee Shams sophomore release and label debut, Please Yourself, on esteemed Fat
Possum Records, is compiled of session recordings at Bruce Watson’s The Money Shot,
in Water Valley, Mississippi. The successor of the nationally voted top ten album
of 2001, The Shams Take Off, leaves in its wake countless wigglin’ rumps,
screamin’ tomatoes and a mind blown craving for more of their muddy psychedelic
swamp rock.
Hitting the road with their whiskey-soaked rock n’ roll, thee Gabbard brothers Fox,
Bender, and Sebaali are doing what they do best: flooding the stage with their
unique blend of blues and rock. Most recently, the quintet shared dates with
Akron and Fat Possum’s own The Black Keys and are on the road with Merge Recording
artists, Spoon.
This summer will see Thee Shams travelin’ across nation as they plan to shake the
doors off every speak-easy, hall and ballroom from sea to shining sea. The season
will also bear witness to the process of the sophomore Fat Possum effort, via John
Curley and his Ultra Suede Studios that reside in the rolling hills of the Ohio
River Valley. There can be no denyin’…they are trying their best…
