Fat Possum in print

Mojo Magazine - December
Introduction by Mojo Editor-In-Chief Phil Alexander

2003 THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS.. "Some of our best recordings were done in high school in my mom's bathroom with ambient mikes hanging off towel racks," Patrick Carney, drummer with The Black Keys told MOJO back in June of this year. While it sums up the Keys' hit-it-and-quit-it approach to music - something which is further evident on the blues-tinged opener on this collection - it also underlines the manner in which music has rediscovered its authenticity and power in the last 12 months."

Observer Music Magazine - Cover Story

The offices of Fat Possum Records are located with wild incongruity between a police station and a Baptist church in the small, god-fearing town of Water Valley, Mississippi, where the lawns are deep and green and possession of beer is a criminal offence. I walk through the unmarked front door and past two weasel pelts on a hat rack and ask how things have been going.

These are all excellent records on which we'd stake our reputation. Unfortunately, they failed to receive the recognition they deserved when originally released.
