Black Keys

New album out next Tuesday, September 7.

Rubber Factory, the follow-up to one of 2003's most successful albums, thickfreakness, features more of Patrick and Dan's mix of rough rock n' roll and blues straight out of Akron, Ohio.

Akron, Ohio's The Black Keys are the healthiest kick in the ass to the blues since B.B. King started taking Geritol. Playing trashy drums and distorted, ripped-up guitars that sound as though they're held together with duct tape and string, Keys men Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach (respectively) recall a secret meeting between Son House and The Seeds, their third album stuffed with pure blues'n'garage rock anthems. The duo-only, no bass required songs don't lack for sonic depth. Masters of ancient valve amps, fuzz guitar pedals and sludgy vocals, these 24-year-olds recorded the album in an abandoned rubber factory, insuring the music's asphalt aroma and down-at-the heels appeal.

Rubber Factory is the second Black Key's album out on Fat Possum, and continues the raw, ragged, and loud sound, and this time, with handclaps. Rubber Factory will be available on September 7th.
